FAQs

  • Muay Thai provides a full-body workout that enhances cardiovascular health, strength, and flexibility. It also improves mental discipline and focus giving you the best form of stress relief and boosts your self-confidence. It’s also widely regarded as one of the most effective striking arts in the world.

  • Absolutely, you can start learning Muay Thai even if you're not in the best shape right now! We welcome beginners of all fitness levels, and our training sessions are designed to match your current abilities while helping you improve gradually. Our supportive community and experienced trainers will guide and motivate you every step of the way as you build strength, endurance, and flexibility.

  • Muay Thai is excellent for self-defense. It equips you with powerful striking techniques using your fists, elbows, knees, and shins, making it a very comprehensive and effective fighting system. Plus, our training will help improve your reflexes, situational awareness, and overall confidence, all of which are crucial in self-defense scenarios.

  • For Muay Thai training, you'll need a few basic pieces of equipment to get started. We recommend getting a good pair of hand wraps and boxing gloves for hand protection, as well as shin guards for leg safety. As you progress, you might also want to invest in a mouthguard and Muay Thai shorts. Don't worry though, we have some equipment available for beginners, and we can guide you on what to get as you advance.

  • For optimal progress, we recommend training Muay Thai at least 2-3 times a week. This frequency allows you to build and maintain your skills while giving your body enough time to recover. As you get more comfortable, you can increase your training sessions to further enhance your fitness and technique - some of our members train 6 days a week! We offer a flexible schedule so you can schedule your training around when you can come in.

  • At your first Muay Thai session, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where we’ll introduce you to the basics. We'll start with a light warm-up to get your body ready, followed by fundamental techniques such as stance, footwork, and basic strikes. The sessions vary depending on the lesson plan for the week, so you might learn techniques through partner drills, pad work, or bag work. Additionally, we incorporate bodyweight conditioning exercises to help you become stronger and more resilient. Our experienced instructors will guide you through each step, ensuring you feel comfortable and supported as you progress in your training.

  • At our Muay Thai gym, we prioritise a respectful and supportive training environment. Here are some etiquette guidelines to follow:

Respect your instructors and fellow students.

Always arrive on time for classes and be ready to train.

Listen attentively to your instructors and follow their directions.

Communicate openly and respectfully with your training partners.

Keep the training area clean and tidy.

Practice good personal hygiene and wear appropriate training attire.

Avoid using excessive force during drills and sparring, and always prioritise safety.

Have a positive attitude and be open to learning and improving.

Following these etiquette guidelines will help create a positive and enjoyable training experience for everyone in our gym.

  • Neglecting technique: Focus on mastering the fundamentals rather than solely relying on power. Proper technique ensures effectiveness and reduces the risk of injury.

Overtraining: Pace yourself and avoid pushing too hard, too soon. Rest and recovery are essential for progress and injury prevention.

Skipping warm-ups: Always participate in warm-up exercises to prepare your body for training and reduce the risk of injury.

Not listening to instructions: Pay attention to your instructors and follow their guidance closely to maximise learning and progress.

Ego-driven training: Leave your ego at the door and focus on learning and improvement rather than trying to outdo others during drills or sparring.

Poor hydration and nutrition: Stay hydrated and fuel your body with nutritious foods to support your training and recovery.

Ignoring safety precautions: Always use protective gear when necessary, and communicate with your training partners to ensure a safe training environment.

Comparing yourself to others: Focus on your own progress and journey rather than comparing yourself to others. Everyone progresses at their own pace.

Not asking questions: Don't hesitate to ask questions if you're unsure about something. Your instructors are here to help you learn and improve.
