Class Descriptions

  • In the Fundamentals class we explore a specific movement pattern both offensively and defensively. By understanding the biomechanics of a movement, we create a solid foundation in which this movement can then be applied in various fight specific situations.

  • In the All Levels class we apply the weapons and defenses that has been sharpened in the Fundamentals class in specific situations. Here we drill the movements at varied levels of difficulty until it can be seemlessly integrated into your muscle memory.

  • The padwork class is 5 x 3 minute rounds of structured padwork that aims to push your limits whilst building upon the movement patterns and fight strategies explored in the weekly lesson plan. Here, you will learn the art of pad holding, which is almost another martial art in itself!

  • Clinching is the closest range in Muay Thai. It is similar to wrestling, but with its own rule set - notably, you are aiming to break your opponents posture and cause damage with knees and elbows. It is easy to get lost in the striking side of Muay Thai and forget to train the clinch. Here we break down clinching techniques in basic drills then apply it in free clinching in the second half of the class.

  • The Sparring drills class is suitable to those that would like to test their skills in a 'live drilling' environment. Particular aspects of striking will be tested and sharpened in varied reactive sparring drills.

  • If you have attended all the other classes during the week - the Sparring class is the best way to test your defence, your timing and your ability to stay composed under pressure under the supervision of your coaches. We have strict sparring rules in place to avoid 'ego sparring' where students throw with uncontrolled power. Coaches reserve the right to stop students from at any point to protect the safety of other members.

  • At Honour we have fighters at all levels. If you would like to compete at any level for the gym, you are encouraged to train in at least one of each class type and express your interest with Head Coach Vinh. We will assess your work ethic, technical ability but also your character and whether it aligns with the values of Honour. Extra fighter training for Amateur and Professional levels is on an invite only basis and is not guaranteed because of prior experience. If you are moving from another gym, you must let your trainer know before attending Honour Martial Arts.

  • The Teens Muay Thai class is suited to those who are between 10-16 years old who would like to train with students in a similar age group. At Honour we offer 4x per week Juniors classes that aim to lay solid foundations in Muay Thai so that when you're ready to take it to the next step and train in the full schedule - you have the confidence to do so!

  • An important part of Muay Thai is having confidence in your body to perform. Building a strong body that can support these movements is something that can occur outside of your skills training. In this class - lead by a certified Strength and Conditioning coach, you will be introduced to movements that will amplify your Muay Thai skills.

  • Slow down, unwind and refocus with Yoga. The yoga practised at Honour is traditional classical yoga that has adaptations towards the Martial Artist. It is a combination of Hatha and Astanga yoga, finishing with Pranayama and Shivasana. The language used for poses is traditional Sanskrit with English explanation and is run by Susie from Sassy Yoga. All levels are welcome!
